El Eternauta II

After several years of having launched the success of The Eternaut finally, in 1975, comes the anticipated second part of The Eternauta. This happened thanks to the success of the relaunch of part one that made the editorial Record during that year. This unexpected success led to the publishing house to propose to Osterheld to write a new version. It is worth remembering that Oesterheld disappeared in 1977.

While the cartoonist Solano Lopez, apparently, was not in total agreement of the radicalization that he was suffering from the main character still took care of illustrar and stamp again the adventures of El Eternauta.

The plot of The Eternaut II

The narrative is resumed from the point where you culminated the first part, with the cartoonist front of the house of Juan Salvo, who, having forgotten everything that has happened, is enjoying a leisure time with your friends, Favalli, Luke, and Polsky, playing the trick.

The writer, still baffled by what happened, he returns to his home, full of doubt and without being able to assimilate fully lived. When he entered his house, is torn between the idea that everything was the product of a hallucination, or just a severe headache. Full of doubts and in almost in panic for not knowing already that it is real and not, decides to go to the house of John Except to tell him what happened.

When you get to the house is there to John, his wife Elena, his daughter Martita, and their friends Favalli, Luke and Polsky. Obviously, all are stunned by the unbelievable story that Oesterheld tells them. In a moment, he seems to forget everything after you experience severe fainting, but their hosts strengthen him by inviting him to stay and join to play a game of trick.

During the game, Oesterheld is incorporated suddenly, remembering all the new and mentioning the nevada. John responds that he, too, remembers everything, but in reality this is not a snowstorm, but of something much darker. Then they realize that the house is located in the middle of a wasteland, and the rest of the city has disappeared, as well as Favalli, Luke and Polsky.

Somehow, the house has been transported a century and a half to the future, and its occupants must find a way to survive in a world still dominated by Them, where only a few humans manage to survive, with John taking on the role of leader.

However, during this process, John has undergone significant changes and is no longer the same as in the first part of The Eternauta. He is willing to perform actions that previously would have been considered unthinkable to achieve their goals.

The Eternauta II shows without a doubt the influence of the socio-politics of the time. With many battles and fighting against their enemies the history and decisions of the characters are more radicalized.
