A history of argentina's epic on Netflix, and for all over the world
Series The Eternautcreated and directed by Bruno Stagnaro (Pizza, birra, faso, Squats), adapts the iconic comic argentine Héctor Germán Oesterheld with a team that includes Ariel Staltari as a co-screenwriter, and Martin, M. Oesterheld, grandson of the writer, as creative consultant. Considered the comic most famous of the country, this version comes to Netflix on April 30 with Ricardo Darín as John Except, leading a cast that includes Cesar Troncoso, Ariel Staltari and Marcelo Subiotto.

The series, which will feature in this first season of six episodes, follows John Saved and his friends to face an alien invasion. Stagnaro explains that, although doubted Darin for the physical demands of the role, your age brought a new dimension to the character, linking it to the world of weapons. “It is a story of survival, but also of friendship and solidarity, values very argentines,” adds Martin, M. Oesterheld, emphasizing fidelity to the legacy of his grandfather.

A Buenos Aires apocalyptic
Filmed between may and December of 2023 in Buenos Aires, the series combines more than 35 real locations with 25 scenarios built using the Virtual Production, a technology that recreates the nevada mortal of the story. Produced by K&S Films (Stories Wild), with technical talent of the first rank, as Gaston Girod in photography, Patricia Conta in costume and Federico Jusid in the music.

Stagnaro highlights the collective spirit of the work: “it Is an honour to bring this story to the screen. Reflect the union and the resilience of ordinary people facing extraordinary, something that is at the heart of the story.” For Matias Mosteirín, executive producer, the challenge was to match the ambition of the cartoon original, using Buenos Aires as a living character.
The visual design, by Maria Battaglia and Julian Romera, transforms Buenos Aires in a landscape dystopian. Inspired by the original comic, documentaries mountain and local photographers, they achieved a nevada credible that defines the atmosphere. “The cartoon was our constant guide,” says Battaglia.

A cultural landmark
Francisco Ramos, Netflix, go on The Eternaut a source of pride for Argentina: “it Is a work of adaptable that shows what the current technology permits.” Mosteirín added: “We are marking a before and an after in the audiovisual industry, local, demonstrating our creative ability to the world.”
